The situation is particularly dire for girls, who are often sold as toddlers and are then forced into marriage at a young age, with no say in the matter. This practice has severe consequences for the girls' physical and mental health, as well as their education and future prospects. The situation is made even more dire by the lack of investment in education and healthcare, which has led to a high maternal mortality rate and a lack of access to medical care for many women and girls. It is a situation that requires urgent attention and action, and it is my opinion that the international community must step up and provide the necessary support to help end this practice and protect the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan.
